From reality to dreams..

The morning mist had started to recede,
It seemed so much like yesterday, nothing seemed to impede,
Sun's glory ,clouds moving across ,
I sat on a bench, my mind going engross,
Full of hustle-bustle the day took off,
People strode,destiny seemed far-off,
Stiff breeze blowing , it hit my face,
I shared the day's joy, without any grimace.

I was taken over by pondering thoughts,
A feeling of novelty, something's going to be, engulfed my thoughts,
It grew stronger, making me curious,as time capsized,
It was getting long, looked like an opportunity familiarized,
It was a feeling , I struggled to hide,

Do the listening too.

"Listen twice as much as you speak". This has many benefits, these days coming across good listeners is pretty rare but one must try to be a part of this illusive subset of good and patient listeners.

The most important reason we should listen more than we should speak is that, when we listen we learn more about the world than we speak .If you know something incompletely or have no knowledge at all about something, listening to others talk on the topic would help you to again some important information(not all that you hear would be useful). Listening also may help you to 'defuse' a certain argument in the heat of the moment if you listened rather than spoke too much. When we listen to someone , we show respect towards him or her and this will surely help in making better friends and better relationships.

Active listening is also important. It's pretty talked about too. Well, active listening is a habit and needs practice. You practice because, your active listening skills need to be toned . When talking to some one it's so important to understand why he or she is saying what he or she is saying. Just listening to the content is not good enough, there are bound to be some 'behind the curtain' feelings which would become slowly evident to the listener when the listener asks meaningful and polite questions. This highlights the difference between listening and hearing too.

"A good listener is a silent flatterer". A better listener can build high-trust relationships.Since a better listener does not get engaged in the usual monologue, so has the chance of getting access to the information he/she would have otherwise missed.

Find purpose the means will follow ..

'The purpose of life is to lead a life of purpose' . It's imperative to define the purpose of your life. By this , I do not mean a list of of 'to-do' things, it's just a way of being , a way of life , the way you want to live and obviously be remembered. When the purpose of life is discovered it surely adds value to living .
Value-based living is the highest level of living anyone can attain, in my opinion . It's a way of life where the person knows where he/she is going , there's no time in life when the purpose is lost. For this last thing to happen , it's required not to change the way of life (implied by the purpose of one's life) at any time .You just have to move towards things and activities which define who you really are by allowing you to express yourself completely.
When the purpose of life is found, which is attained by disciplining both mental and physical aspects of your body , the means do follow. The means follow because there isn't much there to choose from once the purpose is decided. Removal of unnecessary ideas is easier and the most correct means to do to the task at hand can be selected at least cost. And also, the means selected will always be in sync with your purpose in life. Your life is set into motion , the way you want it to be .

Role Models

Role models can come from any strata of the society. They are generally 'famous' people, with a high profile and they influence young people through their words and actions. The increased emphasis on 'role-model' can be considered as one of the major by-products of the modern society.

Normally, a role-model is an accessible person.By accessible I mean, he or she is in the news , facing the camera more often than not and also likes being given a 'role-model' status. The catch here is the fact that, there are many people(sport persons in particular) who stay away from the limelight. So , their talent and their lifestyle isn't out there in the open . Nonetheless, when a person chooses his/her role model, it's based on the achievements of the role model. A successful person is an obvious choice for a role model . But when you select a role model , the choice cannot be emotional, like I'll make my dad my role model. If your dad (and his achievements,qualities) are directly in sync with what you want to achieve at the end of your life, then go ahead.

It's almost like, say, you are in trouble or need to take a crucial decision. If you have read the biography/autobiography of your role model, the question you ask yourself "What would he/she have done in this situation?" . If your understanding of your role model and his/her life is perfect(or almost perfect) , you should be able to figure that out. What I mean is, we cannot keep a role model just for the sake of having one, we have to be well versed with the kind of person he/she is, what qualities he/she possesses and what sort of life he/she is/was living.
